Terms of Service
Last updated: May 29, 2026 · Effective immediately
1. About the Service
wheretobike.ch ("the Service", "we", "us") provides real-time snow and trail-condition summaries for ski resorts and mountain biking locations in the Alps. Scores are computed automatically from open weather data and do not represent official assessments by any resort, rescue service, or governing body.
2. Acceptance
By accessing or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. We may update these Terms from time to time; continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
3. Account Registration
You may create a free account using your email address or a Google account. By registering you agree to:
- Provide accurate information and keep it up to date.
- Keep your credentials confidential and not share your account.
- Notify us immediately at info@wheretobike.ch if you suspect unauthorised access.
- Not create accounts for automated or commercial scraping purposes.
We reserve the right to suspend or delete accounts that violate these Terms or that have been inactive for an extended period.
4. User-Submitted Content
The Service allows registered users to submit feedback reports about conditions ("Report wrong data"). By submitting a report you confirm that:
- The information is accurate and based on genuine personal observation.
- You are not submitting spam, misleading content, or content that infringes third-party rights.
We reserve the right to remove any report without notice and to ban users who repeatedly submit inaccurate or abusive content.
5. Accuracy of Conditions Data
Condition scores and labels (e.g. "Hero dirt", "Excellent", "Prevalent mud") are generated algorithmically from open weather data provided by Open-Meteo. They may not reflect actual on-the-ground conditions due to microclimates, recent events, or data latency. Always verify conditions locally before heading out.
6. Prohibited Use
You may not:
- Scrape, mirror, or systematically download data from the Service without prior written permission.
- Attempt to access systems or data you are not authorised to access.
- Use the Service in any way that could harm other users, our infrastructure, or third parties.
- Represent Service data as official resort or safety information.
7. Intellectual Property
The Service software, design, and original content are owned by wheretobike.ch or its licensors. Weather data is sourced from Open-Meteo (CC BY 4.0) and map tiles from CARTO/OpenStreetMap contributors. You may not reproduce or distribute any part of the Service without permission.
8. Limitation of Liability
The Service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, wheretobike.ch shall not be liable for:
- Any injury, loss, or damage arising from outdoor activities undertaken based on information from the Service.
- Service interruptions, data errors, or loss of account data.
- Actions of third-party services (weather providers, map tiles, OAuth providers).
9. Service Availability
We aim to keep the Service running reliably, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service (or any part of it) at any time with or without notice.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Switzerland. Any disputes shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Switzerland.
